Couple of weeks ago, I met my dear friend Rena for a business meeting and after that she invited me to a "pop up" store in Covent Garden. It was Moxham's presentation. This jewellery brand really captivated me; the pieces are very chunky and elegant at the same time, so contemporary...I really loved them!! And Madeleine, the designer is absolutely lovely. If I would wear jewellery definitely I would be wearing Moxham as they are so versatile and unique. They are perfect for the day and also for the evening!!!

Hace un par de semanas tuve una reunión de negocios con mi querida amiga Rena y tras la reunión nos fuimos al cocktail en la "pop up store" que la firma de joyas Moxham ha abierto en Covent Garden por unas semanas para presentar su colección. Nunca llevo joyas pero si lo hiciera definitivamente llevaría algo de Moxham; sus diseños tienen ese perfecto equilibrio entre basto y elegante, muy contemporáneos. Madeleine, la diseñadora es majísima además. Hice algunas fotos de las joyas que os muestro aquí, pero si queréis ver la colección completa o incluso comprar algo, pasad por la web ;) No perdais de vista este nombre, MOXHAM.

BIRD CAFE DALSTON

There is a coffee place in Dalston that is becoming the meeting point for some of my "casual" business meetings called Bird Cafe. Very relax, cute decoration and I love the fact that walls and furniture's painting is falling apart and far from giving a careless look, it shows a very natural beauty on the things. The coffee is not the best I tasted but is good, and the handmade bakery and foods are really good. What I like the most it is that people there is very relax and clients normally are not pretentious which now is difficult to avoid in this area. So go to Bird Cafe and enjoy a nice coffee, a "Moms Breakfast Toast" and the good company of a friend, a business party or just yourself ;)

Hay un café en Dalston que se está convirtiendo en el centro de mis reuniones de negocios más "informales", el Bird Cafe. El café no es el mejor que he probado pero no está mal, y las madalenas y los sandwiches están riquísimos. Es un sitio en el que me encuentro muy relajado; la gente que visita este café normalmente no es pretenciosa, lo cual agradezco enormemente, y la decoración es muy peculiar también: muy casera y me hace sentir cómodo el que las paredes o muebles estén desconchados ya que lejos de dar un aspecto descuidado, aporta carácter al local. No lo dudes y ve al Bird Cafe a disfrutar las "Mom's Breakfast Toast" en compañía de un buen amigo, un socio o simplemente tú mism@ ;)

Pelicans&Parrots Black

One winter morning, walking around Dalston in search of inspiration, I found this shop I hadn't seen before: Pelicans&Parrots Black. I heard about Pelicans&Parrots and its amazing vintage clothe collection but its "Black" sister is focused much more in interior design but still carrying a highly curated range of vintage fashion. It is cool, it is new (even though they sell vintage) and it is gorgeous. Inspiring and perfect to find a nice piece for your house or just for yourself ;)

Don't stop yourself and pop in.

Una mañana de invierno, mientras paseaba por Dalston en busca de inspiración, me encontré con una tienda que aún no había visto, Pelicans&Parrots Black. Había oído hablar de Pelicans&Parrots y sus colecciones de moda vintage pero no de la nueva "Black", donde se centran sobre todo en interiorismo pero donde también se puede encontrar una muy cuidada selección de prendas de vestir vintage. Es cool, novedosa (aunque venda cosas antiguas) y muy bonita. Te inspira nada más entrar, así que no dudes en pasar y hacerte con algo para tu casa y simplemente algo para vestirlo tú ;)

Just landed in London and so inspired and in Love with those furniture by my favourite architect and always inspiring Oscar Niemeyer. As soon as I will get a bigger apartment I'll do my best to get one of those gorgeous pieces ;)

CIVAN ISTANBUL

During my staying in Istanbul I could enjoy a full day off: no car, no phone, no company... and I enjoyed a lot!!! I went early in the morning to Taksim but this time I decided I wanted to walk different streets so I took a different way... and I got lost :D

I found myself in one of the most inspiring and bohemian neighbourhood in Istanbul, Çukurcuma. Very old buildings and lots and lots of very old shops (furniture, clothing, toys...), people selling stuff on the streets... and walking all around it kept my attention a very old tailoring shop so I went into the store and it ended being a new designer one but keeping a beautiful old fashion atmosphere.

The brand is called Civan and I fell in love. There it was the creative director Bahar Gozkum, a very lovely girl and she helped me on the buying of a wonderful shirt. The tailor was in there too so he made some alterations to the shirt I got just in five minutes :)

Vintage fabrics and buttons that Bahar is using on her collections giving to the clothe an unique touch. I am so happy I found this shop and I met Bahar, is always nice to find people who believe in quality and  very personal work. There is still good Fashion out there ;)

Durante mi estancia en Estambul pude disfrutar de un dia libre y solo sin coche, sin telefono, sin idea de dónde estaba... Por la mañana temprano me fui a Taksim pero esta vez decidí tirar por calles por las que nunca había paseado y claro, acabé perdido :D 

De pronto me encontré en uno de los barrios que más me han gustado de Estambul, Çukurcuma: edificios súper viejos, tiendas y tiendas de muebles antiguos, ropa vieja, decoración, juguetes... precioso.

Y entre ellas me llamó la atención una sastrería antigua que resulta ser una nueva marca Civan, pero que mantiene la decoración y atmósfera de antaño :)

La tienda y la ropa me enamoraron enseguida y allí estaba su majísima diseñadora Bahar Gozkum, quien me ayudó a elegir una camisa que el sastre adaptó a mis medidas en el momento ;)

Para sus colecciones, Bahar utiliza telas antiguas, botones viejos, etc que aportan a las prendas un aire único. Me alegra ver que hay quien sigue apostando por pequeñas colecciones hechas con cariño y pasión :)

CHRISTIAN DIOR LONDON

Couple of days ago I managed to go to Harrods to watch the exhibition about Christian Dior. I went with Christine as she was expending couple of days in London before coming back to New York. It was beautiful. The windows are all decorated with the new collection and very English emblems like the Big Ben, London Eye or the Red Buses. And at the 4th floor there is an exhibition about Christian Dior and his relationship with London (labels, invitation to private shows...) also some toiles from last couture collections are exhibited and some pieces that Audrey Hepburn or Elisabeth Tailor wore. Really beautiful and FREE. So if you are in London or you're thinking on coming don't stop yourself on going to Harrods and enjoying a bit of Fashion History that unfortunately tends to expire...

Hace un par de días tuve la suerte de poder bajar a Harrods con Christine (que estaba pasando unos días en Londres antes de volver a Nueva York) para admirar la maravillosa exposición sobre Christian Dior y su estrecha relación con Londres, sobre todo en la primera etapa de la firma. Los escaparates están decorados con la última colección de Dior junto con motivos emblemáticos de Londres como el Big Ben, London Eye o los famosos autobuses de dos plantas. Y en la cuarta planta de Harrods se encuentra la exposición con varias piezas de costura, toiles de las colecciones, miniaturas de vestidos y otras instalaciones. Y además, gratis!!! Si estáis por Londres o tenéis pensado venir, no dejéis de pasar por Harrods y visitar una exposición maravillosa en la que disfrutareis de una parte de la moda que, por desgracia, tiende a desaparecer...
